La Tomatina

For one hour every August, the streets of a small Valencian town turn into a thigh-deep river of pulverized tomatoes as twenty thousand people pelt each other silly. It started as a spontaneous 1945 food fight and somehow became a bucket-list tradition - tickets are capped, sell out early, and the whole thing is over almost as soon as it starts, leaving the town smelling like gazpacho for days.
