Since 1996, Oulu has crowned a world champion of an instrument nobody's actually holding - full theatrical rock-star commitment, imaginary guitar solos, and a judging panel that takes the whole absurd premise completely seriously. The founding philosophy, stated with a straight face, is that air guitar promotes world peace. It's silly, sincere, and genuinely a great night out.
